Scholarships


Spring Masonic Lodge #1174 periodically provides scholarship awards to deserving students who qualify for the scholarships below and turn in completed applications by the stated deadlines. Scholarship applications for 2025 graduates are open from September 1, 2024 to January 15, 2025. You can download the application HERE.

The Gus Bayer Scholarship is for academic study leading to a 4 or 5-year Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree from a regionally accredited postsecondary institution.

The Spring Lodge Vocational Technical Scholarship is for study leading to a certificate or 2-year degree or qualification in the vocational fields of study.

The minimum award is $500 per scholarship and the maximum award is $2,000 per scholarship to be paid in one or two installments based on lodge policies and procedures. Additional amounts may be available to awardees if matching funds from related Masonic bodies are obtained, but this is not guaranteed.

Scholarship Application Requirements:

Applicants must complete the application and submit all related information in one envelope to Spring Lodge at the designated address via mail.

Emailing PDF documents may be permissible with advanced communication to Spring Lodge and the acknowledgment and direction of the lodge.

Applicants must be between 17-19 years of age and have:

Be a current senior (class of 2025) in an accredited high school -Or-

Have successfully passed the tests of General Education Development (GED) to meet the requirements of the State of Texas.-Or-

Be a graduate of an established home school system which meets Texas Department of Education Criteria.

Applicants must provide supporting materials. This includes a letter of reference, copy of a birth certificate (to be returned or destroyed), and supporting academic documents, as well as a completed and signed application.

Applicants should have the intention to enroll in the institution of higher learning on a full-time basis (at least 12 semester hours).

Applications are based on objective criteria with equal weighting in the areas of (1) Grade Point Average, (2) Financial Need, (3) Local Residence and (4) Activities, Work, and/or Community Service with sub-criteria determining what value will be calculated in each area. In addition (5) bonus consideration will be given to children / grandchildren (including stepchildren) of Texas and Spring Lodge Masons.
