CHILI COOKOFF CONTESTANT RULES

1. Chili is defined by the International Chili Society as:
Traditional Red Chili is any kind of meat, or combination of meats, cooked with red chili peppers, various spices and other ingredients. Beans and non-vegetable fillers such as rice and pasta are not allowed.Preference is not given to either cut meat, ground meat, shredded meat or cubed meat.
2. Contestants must bring a minimum of 3 quarts of chili.
3. Entries need to arrive at the Lodge by 5:00pm and can be in a Crock Pot or other electric cooker kept on the “warm” setting.
4. All entries must be fully prepared prior to arrival at the Lodge. No cooking will be allowed at the Lodge on the day of the contest.
5. Awards will be presented at 6pm prior to the evening meal.
6. Container shall not contain any name or marking to identify the contestant.
7. Upon arrival at the Lodge, contestant will meet with Stewards to ensure compliance with these rules.
8. Entries will be based on a 50 point system, 10 points maximum for the following categories:
a. Aroma
b. Texture
c. Color
d. Taste
e. Aftertaste / Bite
