SPRING LODGE’S HISTORY
On December 17, 1920, twenty Master Masons in good standing of Humble Lodge #979, AF&AM, having the prosperity of the craft at heart and anxious to exert their best endeavors to promote and diffuse the general principals of Freemasonry — and for the convenience of their respective dwellings and other good reasons, were desirous of forming a new lodge to be named “Spring Lodge.” The brethren respectfully prayed for a recommendation empowering them to meet at 8pm on the Thursday on or before the full moon of every month, and there to discharge the duties of ancient craft masonry, in a constitutional manner, according to the forms of the order of the Grand Lodge. They nominated and recommended Bro. A.B. Noble to be the first Worshipful Master, Bro. J.I. Heard to be the first Senior Warden, and Bro. L.T. Pevateaux to be the first Junior Warden of said lodge.
Thus, Spring Lodge #1174 was chartered on December 9th, 1921, whereas the officers promised strict obedience to the commands of the Grand Master and the laws and regulations of the Grand Lodge of Texas.
